COACHING METHODOLOGY

Snowboarding is not an overnight success. To become a professional snowboarder you must work hard on a daily basis for years to achieve your goals. You must ride with the ups and overcome the downs. The coaching style we use at Premier Snow Academy is about creating sustainability. The kids must enjoy snowboarding enough to spend the next several years doing it. This means that at PSA we focus on fun, progression, trust, and unforgettable experiences.

Premier Snow Academy only hires highly certified snowboard coaches who understand not all athletes learn the same and can coach to each athlete’s strengths and weaknesses. Our coaches take the time to break down tricks into specific movements. In a simple and fun way we then teach and practice each isolated skill so when the time comes to try a scary new maneuver we can expect a high success rate right away. Through this technique we build and nurture confidence, Trust and consistency.

Sustaining trust between the coach and athlete is a critical part of progression and our program. Because we are a small Academy, we benefit by getting to really understand each student’s needs, and can build a meaningful relationship as a mentor. We will be able to assess at any given point during the day how the athletes are feeling and how we as coaches can support their development. Trust and mentorship especially come into play when a student needs someone to believe in him or needs to learn to believe in himself.
